The National Circus Preservation Society
Established 1980

The American Circus was born with the republic. The first circus in America was held in Philadelphia in 1793. Throughout the history of this country, the circus has played an important role in entertaining the citizens of America. Few other forms of entertainment can boast of such a long history. The National Circus Preservation Society (NCPS), established in 1980 to preserve and protect this important piece of Americana, is an affiliate of the Circus Fans Association of America. Although a separate corporate entity from the CFA, its officers and directors are chosen from the CFA membership. As a nonprofit, educational society, contributions to it are tax deductible.
