The Real Circus - Act

http://therealcircus.tripod.com

The Real Circus was founded in 2007 by a group of former People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) supporters and ex anti-circus activists.

The founders were outraged by what claims PETA made on how circus animals were treated. So they decided to conduct several undercover investigations that would happen over a three-year span at several circuses. When they started investigating circuses though they started to find that almost all of PETA's allegations against the circus were false. Their investigations found that circus animals are actually healthier than their counterparts in zoos due to being in excellent physical shape as well as constantly having to problem solve which keeps their minds enriched, that circus trainers did not rely on beating, electrocution, starvation, or other cruel methods to train their animals like PETA claimed, instead the trainers trained animals through positive re-enforcement, and finally they realized from watching audiences' reactions to seeing wild animals up-close that circuses have a very important conservation message. The audiences' developed a special understanding and respect for the animals and were much more apt to promote the conservation of these animals after they witnessed how intelligent and beautiful they really are.

So in 2007 the group that came to the conclusion that the circus was good for the animals in it, and their wild cousins so they founded The Real Circus. The Real Circus's goals are to help educate the public about circus animals, why animals belong in the circus, and to educate people on the lies that are spread by animal rights extremists about circuses.
