Gee Gee Engesser to become a Sarasota Circus Celebrity
GEE GEE ENGESSER TO BE HONORED BY THE JOHN AND MABLE RINGLING MUSEUM OF ART
On January 15, 2007 Gee Gee Engesser will honored by the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art as part of its Sarasota Circus Celebrity series which has honored members of the circus world who have brought extraordinary dedication and excellence to the circus profession. Gee Gee will join circus greats Harold Alzana, Fay Alexander, Karl Wallenda, LaNorma, the Woodcocks, the Nock and Rosaire families who have been honored as circus celebrities. Gee Gee Engesser’s accomplishments in the circus world are numerous, but when asked she notes three factors that define her life’s work: 1. She if first and foremost an accomplished circus artist, animal lover and respected trainer of many different animal species. 2. She is fiercely independent woman who raised a family, owned a business and sent a son to college all the while performing in the circus. In many respects her actions pre-dated the modern woman’s equality movement. 3. She is a passionate advocate for “genuine animal welfare” and the rights of humans and animals to work together in the circus. Over the years she has performed in many circuses including: Schell Bros./Zellmar Bros., Barker Bros., Attabury Bros., Kelly Miller Bros., Cole Bros., Cristiani Bros., Daily Bros., Clyde Beatty, GilGray/The Show Beautiful, Clyde Bros., Tom Packs, Gene Autry Stadium Show, Pollack Bros., Atayde Bros., Hamid Morton, and George Mathews Great London . The Circus Fans Association of America salutes Gee Gee Engesser for her outstanding circus career and her honor as a Sarasota Circus Celebrity.
