Forty six circus fans and friends attended the first and opening meeting for Showfolks Tent #122 at the Showfolks Club House in Sarasota on October 4, 2006.
Tent 122 President Shirley Adams (l) prenents a certificate of recognition to Terry and Dick Abbot. At that meeting our guest speakers were Terry and Dick Abbot who were introduced by Rudy Rudynoff Gebhardt, Vice President. They presented an outstanding slide show that gave the audience a spell bounding experience of seeing the various costumes and props made at the Hagenbeck Wallace Headquarters for Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus by Terry and others when the department was on Cattlemen Road. Seeing the props from their early stages to conclusion and in the specs was most interesting. Likewise the descriptions of the costuming and what was added to the fabric to bring out the sparkle of the wardrobe was absolutely amazing. 
Dick took most of the slides and photos and Terry did the narrative. At the conclusion of the program, Tent President Shirley Adams presented them with a framed Certificate of Thanks on behalf of the Showfolks Tent. Next month Billy Rodgers will share his life on the road with the circus at the CFA Tent meeting on November 1, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. Please join us at Showfolks Club in Sarasota.
